Her journey begins here...
Michelle Kim was born in Seoul, S. Korea and immigrated to Los Angeles, California at age three with her parents. She has a degree in Environmental Economics and Policy from UC Berkeley. As she was preparing for a career in dentistry, she soon realized her passion for baking should be taken a bit more seriously. She eventually decided to follow an unconventional route as a specialty baker.
She works in the kitchen with precision and accuracy in mind. She is always eager to fuse Asian flavors with European bread & pastry. "I want to make a statement through my baking. There are so many more Korean dishes to try besides Bibimbap and Bulgogi", says Kim.
She has also lived for a short period of time in Rome, Italy followed by her study abroad in Copenhagen, Denmark. Danish culture taught her "small is beautiful". Kim applies that belief to her baking but adds "simple is beautiful".
